A natural fire near the village of Matak in the Karkaraly district of the Karaganda region has been localized. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

However, the fight against the fire in the region continues. Due to the difficult terrain and strong gusty winds, rescuers have to work in difficult conditions.

"To extinguish the fires in the areas of the villages of Matak and Zhaima, the Kazaviaspas helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with a water-dumping device was involved. It made four water drops on the fire sites," the ministry said.

Forces and equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local executive bodies and other services are working on the site.

Rescuers continue extinguishing around the clock.

The day before, Vice Minister for Emergency Situations Ramil Kamalov, Head of the Emergency Situations Department of the Karaganda region Margulan Amanbayev and Deputy Akim of the region Ruslan Kenzhebekov inspected from the air the territory of the natural fire, which has been extinguished in the region since August 11. Following the flyover, forces and equipment were redistributed.

Earlier it was reported that there is no threat to populated areas.

Scale of the fire and measures to extinguish it

The fire in the Karkaraly district started on August 11. During this time, forces and equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local executive bodies, and other services have been involved in extinguishing. Work is underway to drop water from a helicopter.

The helicopter made four water drops on the fire sites near the villages of Matak and Zhaima. This made it possible to limit the spread of fire.
