A large steppe fire occurred in a village in the Karaganda region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, work to contain and extinguish the natural fire near the village of Zhanatogan is ongoing. As of 08:00, an aerial visual reconnaissance of the fire area was conducted.

"As a result of the reconnaissance, no new open fire sources were found. The situation is under control," the regional emergency department reported.

According to residents, the flames affected several winter camps and hay stored for the winter.

According to information circulating online, one person who participated in extinguishing the fire suffered burns to 50% of his body and was taken to the hospital.
