Nineteen mobile checkpoints have been set up on republican and regional roads in the Karaganda region. These measures are linked to the traditional autumn livestock slaughter and the prevention of livestock theft. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Inspections at checkpoints
At the posts, police officers check vehicles transporting livestock and meat products, as well as documents confirming their origin and the legality of transportation. If the necessary documents are absent, the vehicle is taken to the territorial police department for inspection and to establish the owner of the cargo.
Incident near Temirtau
"Last year, at a checkpoint near Temirtau, police officers found 46 horses stolen in the Akmola region. Therefore, such posts are of great importance in preventing and solving livestock theft," said Meirzhan Slambekov, deputy head of the criminal police department of the regional police.

By the way, last year 8 cases of livestock theft were detected at checkpoints in the Karaganda region.
Police recommendations
Police recommend that owners monitor the location of animals, mark them and register them. They also advise lighting farm buildings and, if possible, installing video surveillance cameras.
If livestock goes missing, law enforcement urges people to contact the police immediately, without waiting several days. This allows searches to begin faster and increases the chances of finding the animals while the trail is still fresh.
Situation in the Zhetisu region
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that since the beginning of 2026, police in the Zhetisu region had uncovered the activities of nine criminal groups engaged in livestock theft. Owners managed to recover 352 domestic animals.
