A resident of the Karaganda region has been convicted for organizing the 'Takorp' financial pyramid. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, the organizers promised citizens quick returns of up to 100% of the funds attracted. The amount of remuneration depended on attracting new participants and their activity in the system.
During the investigation, cryptocurrency worth more than $32,000 was seized. By court verdict, the convict was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
This year, 3 criminal cases have been registered in the Karaganda region regarding the creation and management of financial pyramids. According to preliminary data, over 400 investors were involved in the illegal scheme. Last year, 4 pre-trial cases were registered.
As a result of the illegal activity, more than 50 citizens suffered, and the total damage exceeded 67 million tenge.
