The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported that in the Karkaraly district of the Karaganda region, near the village of Zhanatogan, work continues to extinguish a fire of dry vegetation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The extinguishing of the fire is complicated by strong gusts of wind, as well as the mountainous terrain, which makes it difficult to access individual fire sources and creates a threat of further spread of fire.

"Currently, to protect the settlement and prevent the fire from spreading towards the village, the forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local executive bodies have been involved. Measures are being taken to localize and eliminate the fire, and constant monitoring of the situation is being carried out. Additional forces and means of the Department of Emergency Situations have been sent to the fire site," the ministry reported.

As noted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, an operational headquarters has been created in the region to coordinate the actions of the involved forces and means.

No threat to the settlement has been allowed at the moment. Extinguishing work continues around the clock.
