In the Shet district of the Karaganda region, near the village of Unirek, a natural fire was stopped. The total area of the fire was 650 hectares. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Fire scale

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire covered dry grass over an area of 613.6 hectares, as well as a part of the forest fund located on the territory of the Karaganda forestry and wildlife protection enterprise. The threat of further spread of fire to forest areas was prevented.

Difficulties in extinguishing

The extinguishing was complicated by mountainous terrain, inaccessibility of some areas, and strong winds. To combat the fires in remote areas, the Ministry's aviation was involved.

"Two helicopters with water-discharge devices made 26 water drops. In total, 78 tons of water were dropped on the fire sites. About 310 people and 44 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local executive bodies, forestry and other services also participated in eliminating the fire," the Ministry reported.

Current situation

Currently, specialists are eliminating individual smoldering sites and watering the territory. The situation remains under the control of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that natural fires continue to be extinguished in two regions of Kazakhstan.
