In Kazakhstan, as of October 7, 2026, a number of socially significant food products became cheaper during the reporting week. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, over the week the price of onions fell by 4%, sugar by 2.6%, apples by 1.8%, potatoes by 1%, carrots by 0.8%, and fish by 0.3%. Sour cream, minced meat and rice also fell in price by 0.2%.

During the reporting week, prices for flour, bread, boneless beef, mutton and chicken remained unchanged.

Price changes by region

By region, the overall price of socially significant food products decreased by 0.3% in Atyrau and by 0.1% in Turkestan and Aktau. In the cities of Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, Zhezkazgan, Konaev, Pavlodar, Taldykorgan and Taraz, prices remained at the level of the previous week.

Prices for onions, sugar, apples and cucumbers

The average price of onions across the country was 133 tenge per kilogram. The lowest price was recorded in Taldykorgan — 108 tenge per kilogram.

The average price of sugar across the republic was 435 tenge per kilogram. The lowest price was recorded in Aktobe — 368 tenge per kilogram.

The average price of apples across the republic was 699 tenge per kilogram. The lowest price was observed in Shymkent — 494 tenge per kilogram.

The average republican price of cucumbers was 536 tenge per kilogram. The lowest prices were recorded in Turkestan and Taraz. In Turkestan, a kilogram of cucumbers cost 346 tenge, in Taraz — 414 tenge.
