Almaty's Kairat defeated Atyrau 3-1 at Turkestan Arena in the 18th round of the 2026 KPL. The match was played at a temperature of +41°C. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Despite the extreme heat, the match took place. According to the official protocol, the game started at +41°C. Organizers provided water breaks every 15 minutes.
Kairat led 3-0 by the middle of the first half. Brazilian Edmilson scored a brace, and Atyrau newcomer Franjo Prce scored an own goal. In the 8th minute, the Croatian deflected the ball into his own net after a cross from Yerkin Tapalov.
Atyrau created several dangerous chances in the first half but lacked luck. Russian Konstantin Dorofeev's shot hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Atyrau reduced the deficit with a goal from Brazilian Henrique Devens – 1:3. No further goals were scored.
