The draw for the UEFA Conference League league phase took place in Monaco, determining the opponents for Almaty's football club Kairat. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh club will face Panathinaikos (in Kazakhstan), Atalanta (away), Universitatea Craiova (in Kazakhstan), Twente (away), Mjällby (in Kazakhstan), and Riga (away).
The league phase begins on October 15, with the final, sixth round taking place on December 17. This is Kairat's second appearance in the Conference League league phase.
The Almaty club first played at this stage in the 2021/22 season. Kairat started the current season in the Champions League qualifying rounds.
Rafael Urazbakhtin's team defeated Montenegro's Sutjeska and Cyprus's Omonia, but lost to Bulgaria's Levski in the third qualifying round.
In the Europa League playoffs, Kairat lost to Belgium's Anderlecht and remained in the Conference League.
