Kairat lost to Belgian Anderlecht 0:3 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff round. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The match took place on August 20 at the Central Stadium in Almaty. The visitors opened the scoring in the second minute from a corner kick — defender Julian Biancon scored.

In the 24th minute, Lucas Ambros increased Anderlecht's lead with a long-range strike.

Before the break, the situation for the Almaty team worsened after Alexander Shirobokov was sent off. Soon after, the Belgian club scored a third goal — the scorer was Danylo Sikan.

In the second half, Kairat played with a man down but did not concede any more goals. The match ended 0:3.

The return leg will take place on August 27 in Belgium.
