Sergei Ivanov, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin and former defence minister, has died at the age of 73. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Reuters.
Ivanov served as Russia's defence minister from 2001 to 2007. He also served as deputy prime minister from 2007 to 2011 and as head of the presidential administration from 2011 to 2016. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
