Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed the topic of Ukraine in a phone call, reported Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The Russian president congratulated the American leader on the 250th anniversary of US independence. The sides noted the alliance of peoples during World War II.

The Ukrainian issue was discussed, as well as Trump's participation in the NATO summit to be held on July 7-8 in Turkey. Putin described to Trump the real picture on the special military operation front, including the context of the liberation of Konstantinovka, and stated that the Russian line of troops is advancing.

Putin emphasized the priority of political-diplomatic settlement in Ukraine, taking into account Russia's principled approaches. Trump noted the future of economic cooperation between Russia and the US after the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
