Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the elections to the State Duma confirmed the legitimacy of all government bodies. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Putin met with the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, in the Kremlin. During the meeting, he noted the enormous work carried out to hold elections at all levels in Russia.
"This enormous work was connected not only with the need to organize everything related to the elections, but also with overcoming the difficulties created for us from abroad," Putin said.
During the elections, attempts to create difficulties for Russia from foreign states were identified, and they had to be overcome, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Russian president's statement.
The Russian leader also stated that the State Duma elections held in Russia were organized at the highest level from a legal standpoint.
"The elections were organized at the highest level from a legal standpoint. All members of the election commission adhered to the principles of the law," the Russian head of state said.
In response, Ella Pamfilova thanked the president for the decisions that made it possible to organize safe elections under emergency conditions, and stated that the Russian people understand the importance and significance of the elections.
"It is important that people understand how important these elections are and how much they contribute to strengthening the country," said the head of Russia's Central Election Commission.
Russia held elections to the ninth-convocation State Duma from September 18 to 20. Representatives of five political parties were elected to the new convocation.
