The Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan has summarized the results of large-scale work to protect the state budget, recover illegal assets, and combat crime. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The supervisory body paid special attention to preventing inefficient spending by officials. Following the president's instruction to improve the efficiency of public administration, prosecutors blocked questionable expenditures of state funds totaling an astronomical 342 billion tenge. They prevented unjustified budget planning, attempts to restrict competition in public procurement, and the purchase of unnecessary goods and services.
Additionally, as part of protecting the country's economic interests, prosecutors secured compensation for damages to the state amounting to another 147 billion tenge (including returned property, additional taxes, and fines for environmental damage).
Simultaneously, the campaign to recover illegally withdrawn assets continues in the country. Among the recovered assets are: a new ambulance station in Aktau, a student dormitory in Shymkent, the reconstruction of Balkhash Airport, and the football stadium named after Kazhymukan Munaitpasov in Astana.
In the legal sphere, prosecutors have taken personal control of business protection. The Investor Rights Protection Committee is currently providing legal support for over 3,000 major investment projects. Their launch is expected to create more than 600,000 new jobs in Kazakhstan.
International cooperation is also actively developing — the Prosecutor General's Office has signed 92 agreements with 39 countries, including the USA, UK, Italy, and France. Thanks to this, since the beginning of the year, 27 individuals hiding in Russia, Turkey, the UAE, Montenegro, and other states have been extradited to Kazakhstan. In turn, Kazakhstan has handed over 70 wanted persons to foreign colleagues.
