Kairat Maksutov has been relieved of his post as chairman of the management board of Samruk-Energo JSC. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to information distributed by the government, this decision was made due to the slow pace of implementation of the company's strategic investment projects, as well as insufficient control over compliance with the deadlines for the construction and commissioning of new generating capacities.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his address today criticized the simple "business" in the energy sector that has continued for decades. He also recalled the stagnation in the construction of the Balkhash thermal power plant. In addition, he noted that power sources in Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Almaty and Ekibastuz are not being launched on time.
