President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the plenary session of the August conference ordered to protect children from aggressive fast food advertising. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Another issue. Aggressive advertising of fast food has become widespread. Fast food forms harmful habits, puts a burden on the healthcare system, and negatively affects the country's labor potential. About 7,000 children with diabetes are under medical supervision. Their number is not decreasing," Tokayev said.
In this regard, the president recalled that many states ban or restrict advertising of products high in fat, sugar, and salt.
"This is a very complex issue. It has various aspects, medical and even political implications that cause discussions. However, the government should first of all think about the health of our children and thoroughly study all the intricacies of this problem," the head of state emphasized.
