Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has issued a warning to retail chains. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At a government meeting, Bektenov highlighted problems faced by domestic producers in accessing retail spaces. He noted that high rental fees hinder the expansion of Kazakhstani products' share in the domestic market and reduce their competitiveness.
"I believe that owners of retail chains must radically change their attitude towards Kazakhstani goods. Giving priority to imported goods over domestic ones is wrong not only from a legal but also from a moral standpoint," Bektenov said.
The Prime Minister instructed to develop concrete mechanisms for offering domestic producers of light industry and household chemicals favorable terms for renting retail spaces. Additionally, domestic producers should not face unjustified and excessive administrative requirements when selling their products. All requirements should be consolidated in a single document and placed in a publicly accessible information system.
Bektenov also ordered to identify within a month the priority product categories with the highest consumer demand. For each category, target indicators should be set to increase the share of domestic products in the domestic market.
