Poland intends to participate in the production of missiles for the Patriot air defense system on Ukrainian territory. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was announced by Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka. On Thursday, she met with colleagues from the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon. During a briefing for the media, the deputy minister said that one of the topics discussed was the production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
"The discussion was about the concept of building a plant for the production of ammunition for these systems on Ukrainian territory," wrote the Onet publication. Sobkowiak-Czarnecka referred to a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump made during the NATO summit in Ankara, which mentioned the possibility of locating a plant for the production of Patriot systems on Ukrainian territory.
"We proposed establishing trilateral cooperation involving the United States, Ukraine, and Poland. Because the issue is about protecting this production; it must be carried out in a safe place," the deputy minister said.
U.S. President Donald Trump on July 8 did not rule out that Washington could grant Kyiv a license to produce Patriot interceptor missiles. According to him, after receiving the necessary technologies, Ukraine could quickly start their production.
