The police of Kazakhstan warned the public not to trust dubious investment projects offered via the internet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Scammers pose as brokers, employees of investment companies, or financial analysts and promise "high income", "guaranteed profit", "risk-free investments".
According to the police, they first ask to invest a small amount of money and show the growth of funds through a fake website or application. Then, under the pretext of "increasing investments", "paying a commission", "unblocking an account", they demand additional money.
When trying to withdraw money, the website stops working, the account is blocked, or the "consultant" stops contacting. Thus, a person who believed in "high income" loses all their funds.
To protect against fraud, the police recommend:
- 01not to trust promises of 100% guaranteed high income;
- 02ignore offers to "multiply your money several times in a few days";
- 03do not give in to people who force you to make quick decisions;
- 04do not transfer money on the instructions of strangers;
- 05do not give anyone card details, CVV, and SMS codes;
- 06do not click on suspicious links and do not install unknown applications.
