Minors involved in the arson of a police officer in the Kegen district of the Almaty region have been sentenced to house arrest. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Lawyers Gauhar Saryeva and Dinara Shamshekova said in an Instagram post that yesterday the judge of the Kegen District Court considered the petitions of the pre-trial investigation body to select a preventive measure for the minors.

"Judge Ramazanova S.K. carefully listened to both sides, gave the opportunity to present all arguments, asked questions, and truly delved into the circumstances of the case," the lawyers wrote.

A preventive measure in the form of house arrest was chosen for the minors. CCTV cameras will be installed in the house, and they will be fitted with electronic monitoring bracelets.

"During the court session, the defense also drew attention to circumstances that cannot be left out of the investigation. It is possible that for many years the children may have lived in conditions of systematic violence and abuse. They may not only have been witnesses to what happened but, presumably, also subjected to it themselves," the lawyers shared their assumptions.

The brutal murder of 37-year-old senior operative Aslan Alserov, whose charred body was found in the mountains of the Almaty region, became known last week.

Several people were detained in the case, including the policeman's wife and son. All of them were placed in a temporary detention facility.

Later it became known that the deceased and his wife had been married for 15 years and were raising seven children.

According to the investigation, the brutal murder occurred right in their first-floor apartment. After the murder, the man's body was loaded into a car, taken 300 km from Almaty to the mountains, and set on fire. A smoldering fire with human remains was accidentally discovered by a local shepherd, who recorded the horrific footage on video.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that a man set himself on fire at Almaty airport.
