In the Kostanay region, police officers timely rescued a 54-year-old resident of Rudny from online scammers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to preliminary data, unknown persons called the woman, pretending to be a delivery service. Under the pretext of processing a parcel, they persuaded her to disclose a secret code received via SMS. After that, the scammers stayed in contact with her for several days, using various psychological pressure techniques.
"Under the influence of scammers, the woman cut off contact with relatives, did not leave the house, and did not tell anyone about the incident. This behavior aroused suspicion among her relatives, and they turned to the police," the report said.
During the search operations, police found the woman's location. It turned out that on the instructions of the scammers, she had already signed a contract to sell her apartment worth about 7 million tenge. Thanks to the timely intervention of the police, the deal was stopped, and the property remained with the owner.
