Azerbaijan's Sabah suffered a heavy defeat to Norway's Viking in the 4th round of the Champions League – 1:4. The Baku club's and Kazakhstan national team's goalkeeper Stas Pokatilov saved a penalty at 1:1, but the Vikings succeeded on the rebound. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The debutants' derby of the most prestigious European cup was interesting. Gabonese Baku player Orfi Mbina opened the scoring in Stavanger already in the 11th minute. Despite Erik Botheim's equalizer in the 27th minute, the visitors looked no worse than the hosts. And at times they even outplayed them.

What happened in the middle of the second half was even more frustrating for Sabah. Algerian Akim Zedadka conceded a penalty for handball in his own box. Kazakh Pokatilov parried Zlatko Tripic's spot kick. However, the Vikings captain scored on the rebound to put them ahead – 2:1.

The situation for the Azerbaijani club became completely hopeless when in the 77th minute South African Aden McCarthy left the field for a rough foul against Peter Christiansen. In the remaining time, Henrik Falkener and Botheim, who scored a brace, made the score emphatic – 4:1.

Viking celebrated their first Champions League victory and moved up to 22nd place, into the playoff zone. Sabah is 31st, in the relegation zone.

(About the first matches of the 4th round of the Champions League – here)

The main sensation of the matchday erupted in Istanbul. Fenerbahce at Sukru Saracoglu snatched a victory from Liverpool. The Merseysiders twice took the lead through Trey Nioni and Swedish Alexander Isak. However, the hosts' English colony consistently scored in response. Then Kosovar Vedat Muriqi joined Mason Greenwood's and Archie Brown's goal surge. And brought the Turkish club victory – 3:2.

With the same score, Real won in Athens. Here too, the future winners were losing during the match 0:1 and 1:2. Kylian Mbappe, scoring a routine goal in the 78th minute, equalized for the second time (the first reply goal was by Jude Bellingham). And in stoppage time, Federico Valverde, who came on as a substitute, brought the Madrilenians victory.

With a score of 3:2 away, Manchester City also won in Leipzig. The only difference is that here the hosts twice came from behind. However, the Germans found no antidote against Erling Haaland, who scored the winning goal.

English Arsenal, also playing away, beat the tournament outsider Slavia with class – 2:1. Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres removed questions about the winner by the 39th minute of the game in Prague. The Czechs only managed a consolation goal from Viktor Novak.

The streak of away victories (there were 9 in the 4th round) was continued by Brugge, who beat PSV in Eindhoven – 2:1. However, the Dutch fiasco is nothing compared to the humiliation that befell Lens. The French at their home stadium Bollaert-Delelis were crushed by Italian Como – 1:9. Greek Anastasios Douvikas's hat-trick was gladly supported by his teammates.

Como once again demonstrated that a very interesting team has appeared in the Old World. Fourth place after 10 rounds of Serie A and fourth result after 4 rounds of the Champions League are evidence of that. The scalps of Manchester United, Leipzig and Lens are clearly not the last in the collection of Cesc Fabregas's charges.

The fifth round of the 2026/27 Champions League will take place on November 24 and 25.

Each of the 36 teams will play 8 matches against different opponents in the main round of the Champions League. The top 8 clubs from the overall table will advance directly to the 1/8 finals.
