A tourist injured during a rockfall near Karnizny Peak in the Karasay district of the Almaty region has been evacuated by helicopter. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the incident occurred in the area of Karnizny Peak at an altitude of 4,500 meters above sea level. During the ascent, the tourist was caught in a rockfall, sustaining injuries to his leg and face.
The Ministry noted that after the incident, his whereabouts were unknown, and he could not get out of the mountainous area on his own. Search and rescue operations were organized, during which the victim's location was determined.
For prompt evacuation, a Kazaviaspas helicopter was deployed. The victim was taken to Boralday Airport, where he was met by a team from the Disaster Medicine Center. He was then hospitalized at the Almaty City Clinical Hospital.
Earlier, Kursiv reported about a girl who fell off a cliff in the mountains and was evacuated by helicopter to Almaty.
