In Petropavl, police saved a man from scammers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Karasay Botpayev and Bauyrzhan Akhmet were on duty in one of the city's shopping centers.

Karasay Botpayev noticed an elderly man near an ATM holding a wad of cash and talking anxiously on the phone. The officer showed his service ID and introduced himself, but the citizen initially did not believe him.

Later, the officer called a colleague in uniform. Only after that did the man listen to the officers.

"He said he traded cryptocurrency on the Binance platform. However, when police asked what Binance was, he could not answer. Later it turned out that the man had recently come across an online advertisement about earning money and called the number indicated in the Telegram messenger. He was offered to 'earn' through cryptocurrency," the ministry reported.

Scammers were behind the advertisement. They sent the man "income graphs" from the money he had supposedly invested. However, they had nothing to do with a real cryptocurrency exchange.

The city resident was ready to transfer about 1 million tenge to the scammers. Thanks to the vigilance of the police, he did not suffer material losses.

Law enforcement officers urged residents not to trust those who promise easy money. If one does not have sufficient knowledge about investing, one should not carry out financial transactions on the instructions of strangers.
