Two female workers fell from a height during renovation works at the specialized Kazakh school-gymnasium named after Abai in Petropavl. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The accident occurred on July 29 during ceiling finishing works in the gym. The regional health department reported on the condition of the victims.
"A 57-year-old woman who fell from a height of 4-5 meters was brought to the trauma center of the city multidisciplinary emergency hospital. The patient was urgently hospitalized. Computed tomography revealed compression fractures of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae," said the health department of the North Kazakhstan region.
The patient is undergoing treatment in the trauma department. A 54-year-old woman also underwent surgery.
"The patient was urgently hospitalized and underwent surgery to treat an open fracture. Diagnosis: traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures of the lower leg. The patient continues treatment in the trauma department," doctors say.
Currently, an inspection is being conducted at the school.
"The school administration immediately called an ambulance. Two technical workers were taken to a medical facility and provided with necessary assistance," reported the education department of Petropavl.
An official investigation will be conducted to determine all circumstances and causes of the incident, the education department stated.
