Emergency Ministry crews localized a fire of dry vegetation near the village of Shakhovskoye outside Petropavlovsk. The spread of fire to residential areas and dacha plots was avoided. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, the ignition occurred behind a solid waste landfill. Updated data show the fire covered about 14 hectares.
Firefighting was complicated by gusty winds of up to 25 m/s, swampy terrain, and thickets of dry grass and reeds up to two meters high.
"Thanks to the prompt actions of firefighters, the fire has been localized, and the spread of fire to residential areas and dacha plots has been prevented," the Emergency Ministry said.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that 110 people and 31 units of equipment were involved in fighting the fire. An operational headquarters was deployed at the scene and four combat sectors were formed. A fire train from a railway company with a water reserve of 150 tons additionally arrived.
The main forces were directed at containing the fire and protecting nearby settlements and facilities. There are no dead or injured.
