Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the intention of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contribute to the settlement process in Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Russian leader traveled to New Delhi to attend the BRICS summit on September 11–13. On the sidelines of the summit, Putin held a number of bilateral meetings.
"Indeed, during the meetings in New Delhi, President Xi and Prime Minister Modi showed particular interest in the Ukraine issue and expressed their countries' readiness to join its settlement if necessary. President Putin received this positively," Peskov told journalists.
The press secretary of the Russian head of state noted that Putin gave Xi Jinping and Modi additional explanations regarding the actual state of affairs in the settlement process and the situation on the front line.
Earlier, the Indian prime minister said that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved peacefully.
