A special investigation into the group accident that killed six workers at Aqtogai Milk LLP in Pavlodar region has been completed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The investigation found that one of the workers was poisoned by hydrogen sulfide in a sewer well. Other workers, trying to help him, descended into the well one by one. As a result, six workers who tried to save each other died from hydrogen sulfide exposure.
The ministry said the workers had not undergone appropriate training for safe performance of high-risk work and were not provided with the necessary personal protective equipment. In addition, when organizing work in the sewer well, including during an emergency and rescue operations, the required level of safety was not ensured.
Based on the results of the government commission's work, the employer – Aqtogai Milk LLP – was found 100 percent guilty. The special investigation identified the causes and circumstances of the accident and identified responsible officials. Recommendations were also developed to eliminate identified violations and prevent such cases in the future.
Recall that on July 20, six workers died at their workplace in Pavlodar. They went down into a sewer well and were poisoned.
