A man in Pavlodar attacked an ambulance crew and wrecked the resuscitation vehicle. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the press service of the regional ambulance station, the incident occurred on June 10 in the courtyard of a house on Nazarbayev Street.

At 14:57, a call was received from a passerby reporting an unknown man lying on the street.

"The travel time to the scene was 9 minutes. When medics tried to assist the man, he became aggressive, threatened the crew with a knife, and attacked them. The unknown man punched the driver, then entered the resuscitation vehicle and wrecked it, breaking ampoules with medications and throwing out the medical kit," the agency said.

The Pavlodar Regional Police Department reported that a criminal case has been opened for threats or use of violence against ambulance workers. The man has been detained and placed in a specialized facility.

Earlier this year, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law strengthening criminal liability for violence and threats against medical workers.

For violence not dangerous to life or health, a fine of 500 to 1,000 MCI, correctional labor, community service up to 600 hours, or imprisonment from two to three years is imposed. If the violence poses a threat to life or health, the punishment is five to ten years of imprisonment, and under aggravating circumstances, seven to twelve years.
