A 26-year-old man in Pavlodar has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the torture and murder of his three-year-old daughter. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The verdict was delivered by the specialized inter-district criminal court of Pavlodar region. According to case materials, the murder occurred in September 2025 in the village of Osmerizhsk, Pavlodar region. The man lived there with his wife and two young children.
On the day of the tragedy, he returned home intoxicated, beat his three-year-old daughter, and then took her to a neighbor's bathhouse. According to the investigation, in the anteroom, the man lifted the child and threw her forcefully onto a concrete floor. The girl lost consciousness. The father himself took her to the hospital, but doctors could not save the child.
The mother of the deceased girl testified in court that her daughter was born in wedlock and initially everything was fine in the family. However, after the birth of a son, the man started drinking and changed his attitude toward the girl, claiming she was not his biological daughter. The court established that this was the basis for the man's systematic cruelty toward the child.
According to the prosecution, from January to September 2025, the girl was regularly subjected to physical violence. This included the man tying her to the bed at night and periodically beating her. Forensic experts found 36 bodily injuries on the child's body, sustained at different times. The defendant's version that the girl was injured after falling from a washing machine was ruled out by experts.
Judge Nurlan Aitbayev of the specialized inter-district criminal court of Pavlodar region stated that during the trial, photographs of the girl with signs of beatings on her face and leg were examined. They were found on the mobile phones of the defendant and his wife.
The defendant partially admitted guilt for torture but denied intentional murder. He claimed his daughter's death was accidental. The court found these arguments unfounded. Mitigating circumstances included no prior criminal record and positive references from residence and work. An aggravating circumstance was the commission of crimes while intoxicated.
"The court found K. guilty of crimes under paragraph 1 of part 2 of Article 110 ('Torture of a knowingly minor person in a helpless state') and part 3 of Article 99 ('Murder of a minor child committed with particular cruelty'). By cumulative punishment, the court imposed life imprisonment to be served in a maximum-security correctional facility," the judge announced.
Additionally, the court ordered the convict to pay 5 million tenge in moral damages to the mother of the deceased girl. During the explanation of the verdict, the defendant lost consciousness. Guards had to escort him out of the courtroom.
