A premature baby weighing 600 grams in Pavlodar has suffered a pelvic bone fracture. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The incident was reported by the child's parents on media pages. On October 23, doctors said the child's pelvic bone was fractured. They explained that this occurred when the child's body convulsed.
The Pavlodar Regional Health Department commented on the incident. The child is currently receiving treatment at the regional perinatal center No. 1.
"The child was born with extremely low body weight – approximately 600 grams. Nursing such children is complex and lengthy work. One of the possible complications is osteopenia of prematurity, that is, decreased mineralization of bone tissue. This condition occurs in 30–55% of cases and can lead to spontaneous bone fractures even during normal movements of the limbs," the department said.
The center's administration treats the concerns of parents and relatives with understanding and regularly provides them with explanations about the child's condition and the specifics of medical observation, doctors say.
"We ask for understanding of the specifics of nursing premature babies, and also to avoid hasty conclusions and unfounded assessments in comments. The State Public Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management 'Pavlodar Regional Perinatal Center No. 1' is taking all necessary measures to provide qualified medical care to every little patient," hospital specialists say.
