A man in Pavlodar who fell into a pit with hot water has received compensation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The incident occurred when the man was walking with his four-year-old child. Suddenly the sidewalk collapsed under him, and the Pavlodar resident found himself in a pit with hot water.
The victim suffered burns to his legs. The affected area was 7% of the body. Currently, the man is in the hospital, his condition is assessed as moderate severity. The child was not injured.
The heat networks stated that the cause of the accident was a rupture on the heat pipeline. The section where the emergency occurred was last repaired 15 years ago. After the incident, the damage was repaired, and the pit was filled with sand.
The company paid the man compensation, but its amount is not disclosed. According to the director of heat networks, the victim has no claims against the company.
At the same time, the wear and tear of heat networks in Pavlodar reaches 87%. In summer, water with a temperature of about 65 degrees is supplied through the pipes, and in winter its temperature can reach 110 degrees.
Anatoly Moisey, director of Pavlodar Heat Networks LLP, stated that the company cannot check the condition of all underground pipes daily.
"Our heat networks are more than 400 kilometers long, including branches. To foresee all this pipe that lies underground... It does not lie in some channel where a walker can walk daily, look at the condition of the pipe, and take some measures. Here no one will even give guarantees. All work regarding this is currently being carried out," Moisey said.
