In Pavlodar, a driver of a Mitsubishi Carisma crossed into oncoming traffic, hit three pedestrians, then knocked down a lighting pole and crashed into a bus stop. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
After these deadly maneuvers, the car overturned, resulting in two deaths and one person hospitalized.
Video of the horrific accident in the Dachny microdistrict surfaced on social media.
According to the regional police department, the tragedy occurred on the afternoon of June 29 on Nursultan Nazarbayev Avenue.
A criminal case has been initiated over the accident. The driver has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility; the car has been impounded.
"The circumstances and causes of the traffic accident are being established during the pre-trial investigation," the police department reported.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote about a drunk resident of Pavlodar who stole a police car and caused an accident. Before that, as it turned out, the man had robbed a local store. Fortunately, no one was injured in that accident.
