A man who killed 52-year-old entrepreneur Asulan Nurmagambetov with especial cruelty in Pavlodar has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Asulan Nurmagambetov went missing on 21 February last year. His body was later found.
According to materials from the specialised inter-district criminal court of Pavlodar region, on that day at around 18:55 the victim met the defendant in his car. During the conversation, the man said he could not repay a debt of 84 million tenge and asked for time.
The two then went to a garage. There, a conflict broke out over the repayment of the debt. The defendant decided to kill the victim, took a hunting knife and stabbed him 22 times. The victim died at the scene.
The defendant left his partner's car in the garage and fled to Russia.
The case was heard on 29 September at the specialised inter-district criminal court of Pavlodar region. He was charged with the deliberate murder of a person with especial cruelty. The defendant partially admitted guilt and repented of his actions.
Taking into account that he has two minor children in his care, as well as the absence of aggravating circumstances, the court sentenced the defendant to 15 years of imprisonment. He will serve his sentence in a medium-security institution of the penal enforcement system.
The verdict has not entered into legal force.
