A police officer in Pavlodar region has been convicted for taking a bribe from a woman who was driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol. To mitigate her punishment, the officer helped falsify a pregnancy certificate. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

In Aksu, the woman was detained for driving without a license and while intoxicated. During the court hearing, a pregnancy certificate was presented, which led to a fine instead of arrest.

Later, it was discovered that the medical certificate of pregnancy was forged. The investigation established that a police officer, for a bribe, helped the woman falsify the document and avoid a harsher penalty.

The court found the police officer guilty of bribery and falsification of evidence in an administrative case. He was fined 6.6 million tenge and permanently banned from holding public office.

The convicted officer was also stripped of his special rank, and the bribe amount was confiscated to the state.

Earlier, details emerged about a tragedy in Arys, where a drunk woman lost control of her car and hit people sitting on a bench near a fence. Two children and a pregnant woman died.
