Massive raids are underway in Pavlodar region to identify vehicles with fake or concealed license plates. The operational preventive measure 'Fake Plates' will last until June 14. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the regional police department, officers have already detected hundreds of violations on the roads in a few days.

As reported by the head of the Administrative Police of the Pavlodar Region Police Department, Bakibay Akhmedyanov, since the start of the raids, police have suppressed 425 traffic violations.

"Since the start of the operation, police officers have suppressed 425 traffic violations: 10 cases of installing and driving vehicles with fake plates, 89 drivers drove with unreadable plates, 16 drove into the oncoming lane, and 18 drove while intoxicated. For various offenses, 44 vehicles were placed in impound lots," said Bakibay Akhmedyanov.

One violator was caught on the Omsk — Maikapchagai highway. Patrol officers stopped a KamAZ truck equipped with devices and materials that hinder the recognition of license plates.

In fact, such devices allow hiding or altering plates, making the vehicle less noticeable to traffic cameras and law enforcement.

The driver was brought to administrative responsibility.

Earlier, 'Kursiv Avto' reported how a driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt in Almaty region tried to deceive cameras but ended up without a car. Also, a driver of a Nissan Primera from Kostanay region lost his license for fake plates.

Since the beginning of 2026, 1,942 cases of using fake, concealed, or unreadable state license plates have been identified on Kazakhstan's toll roads. Most often, drivers resort to such tricks to avoid paying tolls and hide from road cameras.

Earlier, deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek demanded tougher penalties for driving with fake state plates and to prosecute them under criminal law.
