In the Pavlodar region, a young man convicted of having sexual relations with a minor girl has been found dead in prison. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to information circulated on social media, last year a 19-year-old man corresponded with a 15-year-old girl and persuaded her to meet at his home. There, an intimate relationship occurred between them.
Upon learning of this, the girl's mother filed a complaint with the police, and the young man was subsequently sentenced to 12 years.
Currently, a criminal case has been opened regarding the death. As part of the investigation, all recordings from surveillance cameras have been collected.
"A convict serving a sentence in a penal institution for a crime against the sexual inviolability of a minor has hanged himself," the official statement said.
It was also previously reported that a village akim was found dead in Northern Kazakhstan.
