A queue of trucks has formed at the Kosak checkpoint in Pavlodar region on June 14. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Border Service of the National Security Committee (KNB), the situation is related to a seasonal increase in fruit and vegetable transportation.
The agency noted that the checkpoint is operating in an enhanced mode to reduce waiting time. Necessary measures are being taken, and close interaction with local executive bodies has been organized.
"To minimize waiting time, the checkpoint is operating in an enhanced mode, necessary measures are being taken, and close interaction with local executive bodies has been organized," the KNB Border Service reported.
The committee reminded that international checkpoints "Sharbakty" and "Urlyutobe" also operate in Pavlodar region. In North Kazakhstan region, checkpoints "Zhana Zhol", "Karakoga", and "Kyzyl Zha" are functioning.
Additionally, carriers can use the electronic queue system. It allows checking the availability of free slots for a specific date and planning the time and place of border crossing in advance. The KNB noted that this helps reduce the load on the checkpoint and makes the process more predictable for carriers.
The average throughput capacity of the Kosak checkpoint for exit is about 200-220 trucks per day.
"We ask you to take into account the current situation and adjust travel routes in advance through alternative directions," the KNB Border Service added.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a queue of trucks also formed at the Kazakhstan-Russia border in Aktobe region. The congestion was caused by a decrease in the rate of vehicle acceptance by the Russian side.
