In the Sharbakty district of Pavlodar region, residents are unable to leave their homes. The settlements are overrun with mosquitoes, reports Sputnik Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

A video of residents suffering from the insects has circulated on social media. According to them, mosquitoes attack everyone, including livestock, and children are particularly affected. They try to stay indoors to avoid the insects.

The Department of Subsoil Use, Environment and Water Resources of Pavlodar region confirmed the situation. According to the department, all disinsection measures funded from the regional budget are aimed at the territory of cities and districts located along the Irtysh River. These include the cities of Pavlodar and Aksu, and the districts of May, Aktogay, Irtysh, Zhelezin, Akkuly, and Terenkol.

"Treatment is not provided in the Uspen, Sharbakty, Bayanaul districts and the rural area of Ekibastuz city, which do not have access to the Irtysh River. In these areas, only barrier treatments are carried out in certain areas and around children's camps," the department explained.

Representatives of the subsoil use department, regional scientific group, and district akimat visited the mosquito-infested villages of Shoshkaly, Bozalan, Sadykashchy, and Shaldai in Sharbakty district. "The fact of an abnormal mass reproduction of winged insects has been confirmed. This difficult situation has been observed for the last 2-3 days. The mosquito outbreak may be caused by artificial reservoirs used for water intake during forest fire suppression, as well as small local water bodies that have formed near these villages," experts said.

In this regard, starting June 10, disinsection barrier treatments against fly and mosquito species have been launched in these villages. Additionally, water bodies are being treated with the biological preparation "Bacticid" against larval forms of insects.
