A project to extract coal at the Zhamantuz deposit and process it deeply into humic fertilizers is planned in the Pavlodar region. Investments are estimated at 65 billion tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The project was presented at a meeting between the akim of the Pavlodar region, Asain Baikhanov, and the management of the Uzbek company Kaoling Torg.

Company head Qahramon Toshpulatov said the investor intends to create a full-cycle industrial complex. The project plans to create up to 350 jobs.

The regional head noted the initiative's prospects, including for the development of coal chemistry and deep coal processing.

"Overall, the project is interesting for us. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that coal is our strategic asset that must be used effectively while minimizing environmental impact. Particular attention should be paid to the production of organic fertilizers and studying the possibilities of their use in our region's agriculture," Baikhanov said.

The relevant department was instructed to continue working with the investor and provide necessary support for the project.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstan's largest coal mining company, Bogatyr Komir, increased its net profit almost 43 times in 2025, to 29.1 billion tenge. The enterprise's revenue grew to 192.2 billion tenge, and operating profit to 40.4 billion tenge. The company extracts coal at the Bogatyr and Severny open pits of the Ekibastuz deposit in the Pavlodar region.
