Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has placed Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, on an international wanted list. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Durov is charged with aiding terrorism. According to an official statement, the administration of Telegram did not remove channels, chats, and bots that were actively used by Ukrainian special services to prepare sabotage and terrorist acts, mass killings, and cyber fraud in Russia.
"All this led to the deaths of many people, including children and women, as well as billions in material damage," the statement said.
In connection with this, the head of Telegram's administration, Pavel Durov, has been placed on an international wanted list. In Russia, this crime carries a penalty of 8 to 15 years in prison. Additionally, a fine of 300,000 to 700,000 rubles or the equivalent of 2 to 4 years of salary may be imposed. The court may also impose a life sentence depending on the severity of the crime.
