On the night of October 1, Pakistan conducted airstrikes on eastern and southern Afghanistan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for Afghanistan's supreme leader, said on social media that nine civilians, including women and children, were killed and 11 others were injured.
Mujahid called it an act of aggression and a violation of accepted principles.
Pakistan's relevant ministry commented on the strikes: "It is of great concern that Afghanistan still remains a center of terrorism. The threat to Pakistan emanates from Afghanistan. In this regard, our actions were precisely targeted at terrorist centers. Maximum precautions were taken and no collateral damage was ensured," Pakistan's Ministry of Defense reported.
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan deteriorated in October 2025. At that time, the Pakistan Air Force launched airstrikes on Kabul, and Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense announced a "response operation." The two sides exchanged airstrikes for a week, after which they agreed to a ceasefire with the mediation of Qatar and Turkey.
