The app of Russian marketplace Ozon has become unavailable for download on Google Play. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
As of August 15, the Ozon app is not displayed in Google Play for some users. However, the marketplace's card may still open through Google search results, which indicate that the last app update was released on August 4.
The reasons for the app's disappearance have not been officially announced. Ozon has also not published detailed comments about possible restrictions from Google.
Earlier, the Ozon Bank app was removed from Google Play. The company stated that already installed versions would continue to work normally, and clients have access to the web version and alternative installation methods.
Meanwhile, its main competitor Wildberries remains available for download.
Ozon Bank is not the only Russian service that has faced restrictions in app stores. Previously, apps of VK, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Mail.ru, and the Max messenger were removed from Google Play.
The restrictions also affected Yandex services. On August 12, the Yandex Pay app disappeared from the Russian version of the App Store. At the same time, it remained available on Google Play.
Some Russian apps previously disappeared from Apple and Google stores after related companies were added to sanctions lists. However, it is not yet possible to officially link the disappearance of the main Ozon app to sanctions — Google and the company have not cited such a reason.
