Scientific restoration work is underway at the ancient settlement of Otrar in the Turkistan region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Information, specialists from the state enterprise "Kazrestoration" are restoring individual parts of the ancient complex using ancient construction technologies.
What work has been done?
Individual sections of the walls of residential buildings on the settlement's territory have been reinforced, and damaged areas repaired. The plaster layers of the ancient hearth have also been restored. In addition, the entrance road has been put in order and the damaged plaster layer has been renewed.
Protection of the surrounding ditch
Special attention has been paid to protecting the ditch surrounding the settlement from the effects of precipitation. A special plaster mixed with straw has been applied to its surface. This mixture, prepared using traditional methods, strengthens the protective layer and reduces damage from various external influences.
These efforts are aimed at preserving the historical appearance of the Otrar settlement and passing it on to future generations.
