The actor, his wife, and their nine-year-old twins were forced to abandon their estate in the commune of Brignoles and move to safety. Before leaving, Clooney sent a letter to the mayor of the town, admitting he did not know if their home would survive, but promising to return and help rebuild the town no matter what.
Previously, the actor has often spoken about his love for life on a French farm, saying that there, children spend less time with gadgets and more time with family.
Around 3,000 people have already been evacuated from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Hundreds of thousands more residents have been forced to leave their homes in other parts of France. Firefighters continue to battle the blaze. The area of one of the largest hotspots is already several times larger than the area of Paris.
