The Orda.kz news portal will cease operations from September 1 due to financial difficulties. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The decision was made by Maksat Ganiyev, founder of Ordamedia.kz and first head of the LLC. The portal's statement said: "The editorial staff's income is insufficient to continue its work. There are no other reasons behind the decision."

Earlier, a court verdict was issued against Gulnar Bazhenova, former editor-in-chief of Orda.kz. She was sentenced to eight years in prison, but the sentence was suspended for two years. Bazhenova was charged under three articles – illegal entrepreneurship, embezzlement of entrusted property, and dissemination of false information.
