A fire broke out in the solid household waste landfill in the Zashagan settlement of Uralsk. Firefighters stopped the spread of the fire and localized the blaze across an area of 500 square meters, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"Thanks to the prompt actions of firefighters, the spread of the fire was prevented," the ministry's statement said.
In some areas, the waste is still smoldering. Rescuers are pouring water on them, and the extinguished areas are being covered with soil. Units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local services are involved in the work. It has not yet been possible to completely eliminate the fire.
Earlier, "Kursiv" reported on how a fire was extinguished at a waste landfill in the Almaty region, at the exit from the village of Uzynagash, as well as efforts to combat a fire at an unauthorized dump near the village of Koksay.
