A tragedy was narrowly avoided in one of the apartment buildings on Monkeuly Street in Uralsk. A four-year-old boy was left alone at an open window on the seventh floor. Passersby raised the alarm and called the police. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to Polisia.kz, the incident occurred on July 10 at around 14:10. At that moment, Rysbek Agzamov, an officer of the patrol police battalion of the West Kazakhstan Region Police Department, was on his way to the night shift. Hearing a woman's cries for help, he noticed the child and immediately rushed to the building.

Also arriving at the scene was Rafael Ishakayev, an officer of the Baiterek District Police Department. Another police officer — Batyrbek Seitov, a driver of the reception and distribution point of the Uralsk Police Department, who lives in the same building — brought the necessary tools and helped open the door of the locked apartment.

One of the officers managed to move the four-year-old boy away from the window and led him to a safe place. The other assisted his colleague during the rescue operation.

"According to preliminary data, the child's mother left the house for a short time, leaving her son alone. The parents have been held accountable in accordance with the law," police reported.

Earlier, Kursiv reported how a 60-year-old resident of Ekibastuz climbed onto a second-floor balcony to save a small child who nearly fell out of a window.

Meanwhile, child rights ombudsmen emphasize to parents that regardless of where the child is — at home, visiting, or left under the supervision of a nanny or grandmother — the legal representatives are responsible for the child's safety. This norm has been enshrined in Article 127 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan since April 15, 2024.
