A suspect in an armed robbery of a grocery store in Oral has been detained. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
On July 30 at 15:40, the police hotline "102" received a report that an unknown man wearing a mask threatened a seller with a knife in one of the stores in Oral and took cash from the register.
"According to the information, police officers who arrived at the scene promptly studied the recordings of surveillance cameras in the store and adjacent area, and compiled a photo-fit of the suspect. Within minutes, all patrols and services were given an alert, and the area was completely cordoned off," the message reads.
The police assumed that the suspect had not managed to get far and began searching nearby. Soon, officers noticed the suspect hiding in thick grass.
However, he attacked the police officers with a knife. Using special techniques, the officers subdued the armed attacker in a matter of seconds.
"No one was injured as a result of the incident. It was established that the detained man is 29 years old. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility," police said.
Pre-trial investigations are being conducted into this incident, and the suspect's involvement in other crimes is also being checked.
