A suspect wanted internationally was detained in Uralsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the regional police, the man was put on the international wanted list in February last year. He is suspected of embezzling over 88 million tenge collected for charitable purposes through fraud.

The suspect was caught in Uralsk during a special operation. During the arrest, the man tried to hide from police officers by hiding in a closet in a private house. However, law enforcement officers found his location and placed him in a temporary detention facility.

Under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale), the guilty person faces a fine of three to five times the amount of stolen property or imprisonment for five to ten years.
